BETHLEHEM—While Littleton is applying the finishing touches to the 47th Annual Littleton Area Chamber Art Festival, so is Bethlehem. With this year’s Art Festival expanding into a three day event, 42 Maple Contemporary Art Center has excitedly welcomed the event into their neck of the woods.
The Bethlehem art center will be hosting a kick-off celebration on Friday, Sept. 23, welcoming visitors to their open studios and gallery. Showing this month is photographer Kristi Beiseker, an electrophotographer who fuses art with technology to make a subtle radiation of energy appear within organic materials. Rounding out the evening will be a live performance by Vermont singer/songwriter Ana D’Leon. Doors to this free concert open at 7 p.m.
“As the Littleton Area Chamber, we’re always looking for creative to highlight our member organizations and businesses throughout the region,” explained Downtown Director Jess Bunker. “We’re thrilled at the opportunity to expand a traditionally Littleton event into Bethlehem.”
Angel Larcom, of Larcom Studios, is the Art Director at 42 Maple and is excited to welcome the Art Festival, citing it as, “A great opportunity for members of the Chamber to see the space if they have not visited before.”
42 Maple started two years ago with a group of people looking for studio space and accidentally evolved in to a community art center. Joining Larcom are five other artists working in such mediums as pottery, illustration and sculpting. 42 Maple is also host to events such as the Cabin Fever Concert Series, First Friday gallery openings, and classes. “We never know what we’re going to do next,” commented Larcom. “If one artist has an idea, no matter how crazy it sounds, we all come together to make it happen.”
With the kick-off party, Larcom is excited to welcome the community and inform newcomers of their programming and upcoming events. 42 Maple is also looking to fill open artist spaces. Larcom asks interested parties to contact Artists@42Maple.org.
